Roofing in Ranger, TX
Roaring Ranger Roofing is a Ranger business, headquartered at 315 W Main St and serving the area since 2025. The town's old nickname, "Roaring Ranger," dates back to the oil boom that put this corner of Eastland County on the map. Whether the building is a house in town, a commercial property on Main Street, or a place out in the country, the first inspection and the estimate cost you nothing.
A boomtown's roofs
Ranger's story changed nearly overnight in October 1917, when the J.H. McCleskey No. 1 well came in just south of town and touched off one of the famous oil booms in Texas history. Trains packed with prospectors poured in, and a small farming community became a crowded city of drillers, suppliers, and oil company offices. The boom faded, but it left behind a downtown with real character. The 1923 passenger train depot now houses the Roaring Ranger Museum at Main Street and Loop 254, and Ranger College, which began as Ranger Junior College and held its first classes in 1926, still anchors the town.
That history shows up overhead. Many houses near downtown and the older residential streets have stood for generations, and over the years they may have collected a second layer of shingles, patched flashing around old chimneys, or roof decking that has absorbed a lot of Texas summers. Homes built later on the edges of town and on rural acreage tend to have simpler rooflines, but they sit more exposed to open-country wind. Commercial buildings along Main Street have their own needs, with parapet walls and long roof runs where water has to drain cleanly.
The roads we know
Ranger sits on Interstate 20 between Fort Worth and Abilene, and the old Bankhead Highway, one of the early transcontinental auto routes, came through town on its way west toward Eastland and Cisco. East of town, the highway once climbed the steep grade travelers called Ranger Hill, Thurber Hill, or the "Big Hill." Today, I-20 makes it easy to reach neighbors in Strawn, Eastland, and beyond, and it's how we get to the rest of our service area.
Eastland County weather and your roof
Living here means watching the sky in spring. That's when severe thunderstorms roll across North and West Central Texas, bringing hail, heavy downpours, and straight-line winds strong enough to peel shingles off a ridge. Summer follows with long stretches of heat and sun that dry out asphalt shingles and loosen their protective granules. Fall and winter are usually milder, but a hard freeze or an occasional ice storm can find any weak spot a spring storm left behind.
After a storm, it's worth a careful look from the ground. Start with our first-48-hours hail checklist, and how long shingle roofs last in Texas explains what wears a roof down over time.
How we help Ranger property owners
Each job starts with a free roof inspection: we look the roof over and tell you, in plain words, what's going on. From there, the work usually falls into one of three buckets. A leak, a cracked pipe boot, or a handful of blown-off shingles points toward roof repair. Widespread wear or heavy storm damage may call for roof replacement. And after hail or high wind, our storm and hail damage page explains what to check first.
If an insurance claim is on the table, we'll help you make sense of how the insurance claims process generally goes. Just know where our role stops: we don't work as public adjusters, we stay out of claim negotiations, and your deductible is yours to cover under Texas law.
Close to home
From our Main Street address, we also serve Eastland and Cisco to the west, Stephenville to the south, and Weatherford along I-20 to the east, along with Strawn, Breckenridge, Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto, and Brownwood. Every town is listed on our service areas page.
