Roofing in Rockwall, TX

Rockwall is the county seat of Rockwall County, on the eastern shore of Lake Ray Hubbard and along Interstate 30 east of Dallas. It marks the eastern edge of our Metroplex coverage. Rockwall homeowners and business owners can have their roofs inspected and estimated for free, and our emergency number stays open day and night.

Named for a wall of stone

Rockwall gets its name from an unusual underground formation. In the early 1850s, farmers digging a well struck what looked like a buried stone wall running across the area, in places rising above ground. Scientists consider it a natural formation, though local legend has long said it was built by ancient people. The town took its name from the wall, and the county followed when it was formed in 1873. The National Road of the Republic of Texas also once passed through the area.

Lakeside living, rapid growth

Once largely agricultural, Rockwall County has become a popular residential area for the growing Dallas region, bounded on the west by Lake Ray Hubbard. That growth shapes local roofs. Many homes are in newer neighborhoods, often with HOAs, larger footprints, and roofs with multiple gables, hips, and valleys. Near the historic downtown, you'll find older homes with simpler roofs that may have been reroofed more than once. Lakefront and lake-view homes can be more exposed to wind coming across open water.

Weather on the east side of the Metroplex

Rockwall shares North Texas's spring storm season, when thunderstorms can deliver hail, damaging straight-line winds, and heavy rain. Wind crossing Lake Ray Hubbard has little to slow it down before it reaches the shoreline, so shingle edges and ridge caps on exposed homes take extra stress. Summers bring long stretches of heat and strong sun that age asphalt shingles. Winter is generally mild, though ice storms and freezes do occur in North Texas.

For a closer look at those concerns, see roof ventilation basics for summer heat and attic moisture, and what to do after a hailstorm for the first steps after severe weather.

HOA neighborhoods

If your neighborhood has an HOA, look over its architectural guidelines before choosing shingles. Texas law generally protects homeowners who want certain wind- and hail-resistant or energy-efficient shingles, provided they meet the statute's conditions on appearance and quality. Your HOA can tell you whether color or style approval is needed before work begins.

Roofing services in Rockwall

A free roof inspection gives you straightforward findings to work from. Wind damage, leaks, and failing vents or flashing are roof repair jobs, while a roof that's simply done may need roof replacement. If hail or a lakeside windstorm just passed, start on the storm and hail damage page.

For claim questions, our insurance claims page describes the general process. One reminder: we won't represent you as a public adjuster or argue your claim with the insurer, and Texas requires the homeowner to pay the deductible.

Across the lake

Head west across Lake Ray Hubbard and you're in Dallas, which we also serve, along with Arlington and Fort Worth farther west. Every location is listed under service areas.
