Frequently Asked Questions
Here are straight answers to the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, call (254) 488-1342 or email roaringrangerroofing@gmail.com.
Is the free roof inspection really free?
Yes. There's no charge for the inspection and no obligation to hire us. We'll look at your roof and explain what we found. What you do next is up to you. More about free inspections.
Are estimates free too?
Yes. After we inspect your roof, we can give you an estimate for any repair or replacement work at no cost. More about free estimates.
How do I know if I have hail damage?
From the ground, look for dents in gutters, downspouts, and roof vents, dinged AC fins, shingle pieces in the yard, and heavy granules at the bottom of downspouts. On the roof, hail leaves bruises, soft spots, and bare patches where granules were knocked loose. Much of that is hard to see from below, so an up-close inspection is the reliable way to know. Please don't climb up yourself.
What should I do right after a hail storm?
Stay safe and stay off the roof. Check your ceilings and attic for leaks, take photos of any visible damage, and write down the date of the storm. If water is getting in, protect your belongings and call us. We offer 24/7 emergency service. More about storm and hail damage.
Should I repair or replace my roof?
It depends on the roof. Repair often makes sense when damage is limited to one area and the rest of the roof is in good shape. Replacement may make more sense when damage or wear is widespread, the deck is soft, or leaks keep coming back. We'll give you our honest opinion after an inspection, and you make the decision.
Will my insurance cover a new roof?
It depends on your policy, the cause and extent of the damage, and your insurance company's decision. Sudden damage from hail or wind is often covered, while normal wear and age typically aren't, but only your insurer can say for sure. We can help you understand and document the damage. More about insurance claims.
Do you handle my insurance claim for me?
No. Your claim stays between you and your insurance company. Texas law doesn't allow roofing contractors to act as public adjusters or negotiate claims for homeowners. We inspect, document, explain what we see, and provide an estimate.
Can you cover my deductible?
No. Texas law requires homeowners to pay their insurance deductible, and it's illegal for a contractor to waive or rebate it. Be cautious of anyone who offers to.
How long does a roof replacement take?
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the weather, and whether any decking needs repair. Ask about the expected timeline before work begins.
Do I need to be home for the inspection?
It depends. When you call to schedule, tell us what works for you. Either way, we'll go over the results with you.
What roofing materials do you use?
We do residential and commercial roofing. The right materials depend on your home, your budget, any HOA rules, and the weather where you live, and we'll talk through options with your free estimate. More about roof replacement.
How can I tell an honest roofer from a storm chaser?
Take your time. Ask for a local address and phone number, proof of insurance, and a written estimate. Don't sign anything under pressure or on the spot, be careful about paying large amounts upfront, and read any contract before you sign. A good roofer will be glad to answer your questions.
