Roof Repair
A small roof problem rarely stays small. Once water gets past a damaged shingle or a gap in the flashing, it can soak the roof deck, the insulation, and the drywall underneath. Fixing it early usually costs less and saves you a lot of headache. Roaring Ranger Roofing repairs residential and commercial roofs, and every repair starts with a free inspection.
Roof leaks
A leak doesn't always show up right under the problem. Water can run along the deck or a rafter before it drips, so the stain on your ceiling may be several feet from where it's getting in. The goal is to trace the leak back to its source so the fix actually holds, instead of just patching the spot that looks wet.
Common signs of a leak include water stains on ceilings or walls, a musty smell in the attic, peeling paint near the roofline, and damp insulation.
Missing or blown-off shingles
Texas wind can lift shingle tabs, break the seal strip that holds them down, and peel them off entirely. A missing shingle leaves the underlayment exposed to sun and rain, and it won't hold up long on its own. We replace missing and damaged shingles and try to match the existing roof as closely as possible. Older shingles can be hard to match exactly, and we'll be upfront with you if that's the case.
Flashing
Flashing is the metal that seals the joints where the roof meets a chimney, wall, skylight, or valley. Over time it can rust, pull loose, or lose its sealant. Flashing problems are a common cause of leaks, and they're often the fix that solves a leak nobody could find.
Vents and pipe boots
Every plumbing vent that pokes through your roof has a rubber or metal boot around it. Sun and heat break down that rubber until it cracks, letting water slide right down the pipe. Hail can also dent or crack roof vents. Replacing a boot or a vent is usually a simple repair that stops a lot of water.
Repair or replace?
Not every damaged roof needs to come off. A repair often makes sense when the damage is limited to one area and the rest of the roof is in decent shape.
Replacement may be the smarter choice when:
- Damage is spread across most of the roof
- Shingles are curling, cracking, or losing granules all over
- You're patching new leaks every season
- The deck underneath has soft spots or rot
After the inspection, we'll explain what we see and give you our honest opinion. The decision is yours. If replacement makes more sense, see our roof replacement page for how that works.
